‘Lost Trace’ again seeks to evoke a feeling of fragmented memory, myth and fairytale with its lost in the wood Hansel and Gretel undertones. It explores ideas about the links and bonds people have to each other and how those connections still exist even in death. Symbolic concepts of protection and amulets reoccur in the red thread and tied rags in the wood and draws on the beliefs held within various cultures. The theme deals with loss and being lost, in search of traces of loved ones through the connections you still hold within objects, the traces they leave behind. These traces become protective and comforting and allow you to retrieve a memory you know to be real and not imagination or storytelling.
